Should You Consider Installing a Pool Enclosure?

We offer a lot of different services at Tripod Aluminum from fencing to pool baby gates and screen rooms to pool enclosures. Today we wanted to focus on our pool enclosures and talk about what one of our pool enclosures can do for you. These enclosures are often referred to as “Florida rooms.” If you ever travel to the west coast of the United States, you may notice that very few homes have these pool enclosures. We don’t know why they haven’t caught on much to our awesome idea, but here in Florida, they are abundant and with good reason!

Our pool enclosures are basically very large screen rooms, but instead of only enclosing a patio/seating area, the enclosure also surrounds the pool and pool deck area. There are multiple reasons that one might desire a pool enclosure, so let’s talk about them.

One of the biggest reasons that pool enclosures are popular here in Florida is our critters! We have a lot of animals here which is awesome. What is NOT awesome is when these animals decide to take a dip in our pool. Many a Floridian without a pool enclosure has had the unwanted privilege of walking into their backyard to find a gator, turtle, or water snake taking a nice morning swim in their pool! That is definitely not the kind of pool party you envisioned when you bought a home with a pool or had a pool built in your backyard. Certain areas of Florida are richer with such wildlife than other areas, but no area is without wildlife. Ducks have also been known to drop by for a swim. While ducks aren’t inherently dangerous like an alligator, no one wants to clean duck poop out of their pool!

Another excellent reason for having a pool enclosure is the leaves and yard debris. Particularly during hurricane season (June 1 – November 30), we can experience very high winds here on the east coast. These winds can really wreak havoc on a pool. They blow in everything from leaves to palm fronds to whole branches during storms. Not only can it take hours to clean all of this debris from your pool, but the longer the debris stays in the pool, the more it upsets the chemical balance of the pool, often leaving it looking like our Florida Everglades. It isn’t your fault. If it is hurricane season and a nasty storm has blown these things into your pool, it may be days before the weather clears enough for you to tackle the huge pool cleaning project. Unfortunately, those days mean chemical imbalance and yucky water.

Yet another reason for having a pool enclosure is to keep out pesky insects. You may notice that during the warmer months when you really want to be in your pool that the insects come out in full force and want to be there too. Often they are swooping down to grab a quick sip of water. We assume they don’t understand the concept of chlorine! At any rate, many of them swoop too low, land in the water, and quickly find out they are unable to swim. For many, it is a simple matter of getting their wings wet. It makes it impossible for them to fly and save themselves. The result is a pool full of dead bees, ants, and often large dragonflies.

For the insects that don’t get caught in the water, they can still make a nuisance of themselves. Nobody wants to be dive bombed by a yellow jacket while splashing about happily in the pool. Those things pack a wallop of a sting! In fact, unlike other stinging insects, yellow jackets do not lose their stingers and can sting you multiple times. Ouch! Stinging insects are also an exceptional hazard for those in the pool who have allergic reactions to such stings. This can lead to a true life or death situation, depending on the severity of the allergy.

For all of these reasons, we highly recommend getting a pool enclosure (Florida room). At Tripod Aluminum we offer free estimates. We use stainless steel anchors and offer a variety of screening. You might not think a pool enclosure will fit in your yard, but we think you will be surprised. This is our business, and we are excellent at working with you to find what works for your yard. From Melbourne, FL down to Port St. Lucie, we love to make your pool a safer, cleaner, happier place to be!
